Holydays and Festivals

Life and movement don’t stop throughout the year around the Thermal SPA Hotel Roman Bath: international festivals, folklore, national and regional holidays to suit all the tastes. We’ve prepared for you a short list of events that can be turned into another bright highlights of your rest:

  • 1 st of January – New Year celebration including the colorful Kukeri folk ritual whose roots are from the time of the Ancient Thrace.

  • 1 st (14th) of February – Saint Tryphon’s Day, the holyday of the saint patron of wine. This day grape-vines have their first pruning and people raise glasses for it at the tables.

  • 25 th of February – food and wine feast in Bansko winter resort .

  • 1st of March – Martenitsa or Baba Marta Day, traditional Bulgarian holiday to send off winter.

  • March – electronic music festival Horizon in Bansko.

  • 3rd of March – Bulgaria’s Day of Liberation from the Ottoman domination. This day is celebrated by the whole country; Bulgarians raise national flags and lay wreaths at the monument to the liberators.

  • The second half of May – Holidays of the Bansko’s traditions, when you can admire a local costumes show, a local food exhibition and art exhibitions, a flowers festival and many different competitions. The week of holydays always ends with a folklore festival “Between three mountains”.

  • The first half of the summer –Summer Theatre Festival.

  • 8-13th of August – the International Bansko Jazz Festival.

  • The end of August –Opera Festival in Bansko.

  • 6 th of September – National Unification Day. This day isn’t too much celebrated, but you can visit some events related to Bulgarian history.

  • 22nd of September – Independence Day. The Bulgarianscelebrate it in a big way, so you can participate in public celebrations and watch colorful shows.

  • 5 th of October –Bansko Day. Concerts and theatrical performances on historical themes are held in Bansko to celebrate this day, and in the evening you can admire the colorful fireworks.

  • November – the famous Premier Gastronomy Food Festival.

  • November – the unique International Mountain Film Festival “Bansko Film Fest”.
